blush.

sometimes i forget how inspired i can be by color.  while browsing through my photo archives i came across some snapshots i took recently while spending the day in chattanooga...it seems that on this particular day i was inspired and in love with all shades of blush.

although...blush seems to be my favorite nearly every single day

mint & peach - colors that make my heart smile

all photos sourced here

oh my.  i could look at this color palette all day long and never have a care or worry in the world again.  my closet has quickly been taken over by a wardrobe filled with varying shades of peaches and hints of mint (there would be much more of this pretty shade of green if i could find more of it to buy!).

i was driving around in my vw beetle convertible just yesterday wishing i could have mine painted just like that beauty up top...i may just have to settle for a sea foam vespa, it's been on my wish list for years.

what colors are you crushing on this spring?  i have a feeling this color combo will be a favorite through the summer if i do say so myself :)  XO, lindsay

on the table - a few recent finds that inspire me

in my previous post i shared how entertaining and having small gatherings at our home is on my list of things to do for 2012.  i am all about making the dinner table look pretty and managed to find a few magical things that will do just that - glittery wood utensils, cotton candy topped cupcakes...LOVE.

matthew and i have thrown around the idea of an alice in wonderland themed valentines day party - tea and all...i get giddy just thinking about it :)  pretty sure we need to make this one a reality!

have you been to or thrown any fun themed parties?  do share!

design*sponge at home - an inside look - p.s. it's amazing!

matthew and i recently decided that it was finally time to start making our house feel like a home. both of us are guilty of allowing ourselves to be completely consumed with work...non-stop. because of this we have neglected to make our little nest feel...well like a nest.

over the last few weeks we have taken some time to liven up our space **all of which i will be sharing in a new scenic glory feature starting in december "house to HOME project"** to help get a little motivated i stopped at the barnes & noble up the street and was so excited to see one copy left of design*sponge at home. i have never rested by eyes on something so completely and totally amazing! here's a little peak inside...

this gem is complete with over 350 picture filled pages...if this book doesn't inspire you, i don't know what will.  after paging through it for only a few seconds i knew i had to take this one home (for only $35 how couldn't i)?

i find myself looking through it every day over and over.  each time i discover something new...it truly never gets old!  needless to say we have made a lot of progress, and i am beyond excited to continue making our house a home.  i'll be sharing bits and pieces of our transformation starting next week!  until then, i thought i would share a little something from our dining room table :)

i have always believed that it's the small things that count...even if it's just a little something on a dining room table! XO

steve jobs

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

inspired by banana splits *and the cherry on top*

 via pinterest

happy friday lovelies!  i know i know a banana split may be a weird thing to be inspired by, but they are so colorful and beautiful.  i can't help but smile when i see them.

matthew and  i are working as you know on our business plan for scarlet & cream (our retro ice cream float trailer) and thought it would be fun to incorporate some tasty snacks as well.  we love the idea of a banana split, but want to mix it up and make it our own.  i found these ideas on pinterest...which one is your favorite.  all i know is as long as it has a cherry on top i'll be happy ;)  XO lindsay

live free

beautiful jelly fish i photographed at the tennessee aquarium

today i read something that really moved me and i needed to share it with you all.  my beautiful friend sam who i have had the pleasure to get to know through blogging opened up her heart today.  she shared things that i don't think many of us would be brave enough to share...myself included.

she opened up my eyes, inspired me and motivated me all in a single moment.  maybe she can do the same for you too.  read about her live free project here.

let it SHINE

SHINE.  a small word that means so much!  the lovely ashley of the shine project has made it her goal to spread the message that we all have the endless potential to shine.  the shine necklace was created not too long ago to help others recognize that they do shine in so many ways.

these necklaces are a constant reminder to always believe in yourself and do whatever you set out to do.  what i admire most about ashley and her project is that with each sale of a necklace, $1 goes towards the shine project scholarship fund which is awarded to an inner city school students college education.  how amazing is this?!?

her project is beyond amazing and i am so honored to have the opportunity to share her and her mission with you.  stop by and visit the shine project and take a look at the variety of shine necklaces that are available for a good cause!  thank you ashley for all that you do!

have a good day lovelies! xo, lindsay

i live in a world where dreaming is free...it's free for all of us.

inspired by ethnic textiles

photos found on pinterest

i have been searching for home decorating inspiration recently and found that ethnic textiles is a must when we get started (actually i think it is a must in my wardrobe, hence the first picture!).  the patterns contain so much color and drama.  i especially like the last picture to the right.  the idea of overlapping rugs really strikes me.  i think the idea is unique and different...what about you?

i have been talking to my sister in law who takes occasional trips to india for her job... i hope to be able to go with her sometime in the near future.  perhaps i can pick up some beautiful textiles there myself, for my home, wardrobe and shop!  i wish i could go now!!

hope you all had a beautiful relaxing weekend. XO, lindsay
