something dreamy - a scarlet & cream update!

i have been getting a lot of sweet comments and emails asking matthew and i how our scarlet & cream dream is coming along...i thought i would share quick update :)

early last week i received a phone call from the people who were going to complete our vintage camper restoration...due to unfortunate circumstances, they let me know that they would be unable to complete the restoration and were willing and ready to send us a full refund.  my heart was absolutely crushed...how would we ever find another vintage camper (that was affordable) ready to be up and running by spring?

after a few minutes of feeling sorry for myself i got myself pulled together and thought to ask them...do you have any campers that are already complete?  although a finished camper would not necessarily be exactly the way we wanted...i was open to anything.  after a few phone calls and photo exchanges, they ended up having just what we wanted...

meet our new scarlet - a 1959 platte, aluminum sided camper.  all we need to do is polish her up a little bit, add our graphic wraps (yay for our pretty pin up girl - more design details coming soon!) and swap out the linens on the interior.  originally matthew and i always wanted a shiny silver camper, but they were hard to come by...i guess sometimes things happen for a reason :)

OH and as for that pretty photo up top - i'm keeping that idea in my back pocket...NO we don't plan on operating a ferris wheel (although how amazing would that be?), but if we ever decide to have a brick and mortar scarlet & cream dessert diner (drive though style), this is exactly how i want it to look...isn't it dreamy? :)  XO

waffles & mini pies

spring time will be here before we know it which means that our scarlet & cream food truck will be open for business.  the restoration has begun on our 1970 fleetwing and we can hardly wait to see her all finished!  we have tossed around SO many ideas about what food items to offer out of her...

first we thought of old fashioned soda's and floats, then gourmet styled snowcones, and now we have a few more ideas...banana splits, sundaes, waffles & mini pies (including everything else that i just mentioned!).  the concept...a diner on wheels.  call us crazy, but we figured we better go big if we want to do it right.

so please tell us...what are some of your favorite waffle toppings and pies to eat? 

soda pop taste testing & a diamond in the rough

my mister has been super busy taste testing some soda's that we plan to offer out of miss scarlet (haven't read about our scarlet & cream dream?  click here!).  i am not a fan of carbonation, so i have to leave the job to him :)  when you throw in some ice cream...then i'm a fan!

we have been super busy these last few weeks getting everything organized for our upcoming spring opening - i know it's several months away, but once the holidays come and go it will be here in no time!  matthew had all of last week off so we stopped at a few places - the health department, to find out about all the necessary permits and code requirements we have to meet, the city clerk, the graphic wraps business in town and a sound system audio place as well.  on top of that we made several phone calls, looked around on the internet for some ideas, etc. etc.  really the list is never ending so how about i stop now before i bore you to death :)

BUT before i stop too soon...i have to introduce you to miss scarlet!!!  last time i shared our dream job with you, we didn't even have our camper picked out yet.  drum roll please...

she needs some love, but the fine folks of fine design campers in kentucky are looking forward to the challenge.  they are a group of volunteers that specialize in refurbishing vintage trailers!  soon she will have a shiny new paint job, some wings and a fabulous new interior.

i can't wait to share her progress with you...i can hardly wait for opening day :) XO, lindsay

fireflies and mini golf adventures

summertime is my favorite season for so many reasons, but fireflies and mini golf adventures top my list for sure (okay maybe snow cones too!!) what are some of your favorites?

thank you so much for the sweet words and motivation regarding my dream job post from yesterday needless to say i have a lot of "dream jobs" all of which i am determined to make a reality.  matthew and i are creating a one year plan to make Scarlet & Cream an active business by spring/summer of next year.  i'm excited to share the journey with you all! scarlet and cream - our dream business

matthew and i dream of owning a little retro trailer one day and running an old fashioned float stand out of it.  kind of like an ice cream truck...only better because instead of a bell there will be 50's music and root beer floats with candy striped straws (and we can't forget about the pie crust sticks with homemade jam!!).  the nostalgia of it just makes me so giddy!

the only thing that would make it better is pulling our stand - which we plan to call Scarlet & Cream with this lovely...

it's a 1957 ford crestline.  one of my besties will be selling this car and the mister and i are seriously considering purchasing this beauty.  it wouldn't be for a few months, but i have my fingers crossed that it will all work out!  she is absolutely beautiful with her peach color and a white interior...all we need in this town is a diner and drive in movie!  XO, lindsay
