inside the picnic basket #002 - pasta dish

i thought i would share my latest inside the picnic basket recipe.  this pasta is super tasty (we have leftovers for this evening!) and if you are not a vegetarian you can add any protein to this dish easily!

i'm a sucker for dessert and absolutely love anything with strawberries especially during the summer!  this shortcake hit the spot!  i actually whipped that cream by hand...i never imagined i would be this dedicated haha.  the mister loves it and i am starting to love it too!  XO, lindsay

pretzel bread is amazing don't you think?  when i put together this recipe (realsimple.com is fabulous!) instead of using regular country bread, i thought this pretzel bread would be tasty.  matthew absolutely loved it so i guess i did okay ;)

this was a very easy recipe and only took about 25 minutes to prepare.  i loved the meal, but think i enjoyed taking the pictures more...imagine that!  if you decide to try it out let me know what you think.  i'll be back later today with the winners of the giveaway! XO, lindsay

inside the picnic basket - prep work

it is another beautiful saturday here in lincoln...which means an absolute perfect day for a morning stroll through the farmers market.  i visited with my friend chandra at the mill (a local coffee shop) and then we stopped by some stands at the market and picked up some fresh spices and vegetables.

i mentioned yesterday that there will be a new feature appearing here on scenic glory this next week i call inside the picnic basket.  i have never been one to cook, actually my husband is the one that enjoys it, but i thought it would be fun to give it a shot and document my progress (or lack there of..haha).

ever since purchasing penelope (my beloved camera) i have found that taking photographs of food is one of my favorite subjects.  the close up detail, all the colors and depth...to me it is beautiful and i hope to embody that in my new feature. 

i look forward to sharing new recipes with you too!  for those of you that don't know, the hubs and i share what we call a "split kitchen."  I am a vegetarian (who occasionally eats seafood), and matthew is a born and raised nebraska boy who loves a good burger.  needless to say there will be a lot of variety in this new feature and i hope you will enjoy it!
