the other day i came across this fun infographic.  starting up our little scarlet & cream - diner inspired food truck has resulted in tons and tons of research and i when i came across this i couldn't help but smile...it's fun informative and i LOVE the design!

ballistic gypsy - a blog design makeover

i heart design - a recent creation

hello lovelies!  well now that blogger is starting to act more like itself i thought i would post a recent design i just completed.  katie of away we go contacted me not too long ago looking for a bohemian inspired look.  this is my favorite style trend at the moment so i was particularly excited about this design.

you can get a sneak peak of what it looks like below...since this blogger meltdown happened for some reason all of the design changes i made to her blog suddenly vanished! hopefully it will be up and running soon...at least i got a few screen shots before this happened :)

scenic glory shop - a sneak peak

hey lovelies!  hope you all have had a beautiful weekend.  i thought i would share with you a few print designs i have created for the scenic glory shop (opening on june 14th).  i don't want to share them all before opening day, but just a few doesn't hurt right?!?

i have enjoyed incorporating my own handwriting and other graphics/textures that i have never used before into all of these print designs.  these are 2 of the 7 final designs i have created...i expect in the next two months there will be several more added!  XO, lindsay

a new design and some exciting news

hello lovelies!  i hope you all had a beautiful weekend :)  i have been busy creating new designs and i am excited to share them with you soon.  you probably notice something a little different here on scenic glory!  i have been working on and off for the last month on this new design for myself and am happy to finally be able to share it with you all.

also, i am super excited to announce that scenic glory - the shop (online) will be open in just over two months (june 14th to be exact!)...i can't wait to share sneak peaks with you until opening day.  i will be creating unique art prints as well as beautiful hair accessories (you know how much i love hair accessories)....completely opposite i know :)  hopefully this will be just the start, i have so many ideas in mind...now if only i had the time to do it all!! XO, lindsay

oh i almost forgot.  i was sad that i was unable to incorporate the scenic glory photobooth into the front page design, BUT i did create a special page for it and there is a link on the sidebar to view it.  i think i may create a special blog just for the photo booth pics...do you like that idea?

i ♥ design - a snapshot of something new

hello lovelies!  as most of you know i recently started working at home part time to focus attention on my design business.  i have created many new blog designs that i will be sharing with you soon, but for today i thought i would share something a little different.

one of my design jobs is working for a photographer corey rourke who was also our wedding photographer.  i create wedding album designs, but have recently began designing for promotional pieces.  the first being high school senior mailers.  below is my newest creation...the front and back of the mailer.

you probably recognize some of the elements i used in this design. i adore these flower graphics and have been using them more frequently in some of my recent posts!

what is scenic glory - a book project

i spent a good part of my day yesterday creating a book for my illustration class.  the only requirements were that it had to be a certain amount of pages, had to include text (a poem, song lyrics, or your own writing) and some illustrations.  lucky for me we were able to create our book on the computer so that's what i did.

i decided to use my own personal writing for this project.  not too long ago i did a post on what is scenic glory?  i took my writing from that and created this illustrative journal.  i will be starting a print shop (stationary, large posters, calendars...more on that soon!) and will be sending this little book with all the orders :)  just imagine a box around each of these pages...haha there is a lot of white space here but hopefully you can visualize what it will look like.  i will take pics of the final product and post soon!

wood block carving - a zebra design

in a recent class we were instructed to bring in an image that we would turn into a wood block print.  i decided on this beautiful picture of a zebra.  matthew and i actually own this painting..it's a large 4 ft. x 5 ft canvas that we got from z gallery!

we had to take this image and draw it onto a wood block then carve out the white area...after we were through we ran the wood block through an ink press and created pretty prints on paper!  this is what mine ended up looking like...

considering this was my first time working with wood block prints i was pretty happy with the result.  i actually took this and printed it on a few shirts as well...so cute!! have any of you worked with wood block printing before?  i'd love to see your work :) XO, lindsay

wedding album designs - the final product

througout mine and matthew's wedding planning process we grew really close with our photographer. so much so that we both have been lucky enough to now work with him.  matthew takes care of certain parts of the marketing and i work on the designs.

my main responsibility is creating the design and layout for the wedding albums.  here are a few shots of the ones that i created.

each of these designs are created from scratch and are specific for each bride and groom.  this job is so much fun...i love going through all of their favorite images and telling their days story...there is nothing better!

hello again lovelies :) like my title there? i had to get creative :) i have two new lovely designs to share with you all today that i recently created...

this first design was created for the lovely meg of twisted tree this particular creation was for her newly created blog just a mom with a camera it is here where she shares her passion for photography.  she contacted me looking for a soft vintage feel, i found out some of her loves and interestes and incorporated those ideas into the design.

the next design i am sharing with you all today was created for the beautiful shah of WordsinSync she is such an inspirational writer and creator...i just adore everything about her wonderful space!  she was looking for something more neutral and soft with touches of art and music throughout.

i heart design - a few new blog makeovers to share ♥

hello lovelies!  i have a couple designs to share with you all today.  i have been working away and have many more coming up...they're just not quite done yet :)

this first design i'm sharing here was created for the lovely katie of love is everywhere i am so happy with how her design turned out.  it is so fun and playful...her ideas were fabulous and she was such a joy to work with.  between the two of us we were able to create something that she truly loved...that's all that matters.

here is a design i created for another lovely lady friend of mine leona of the laughing lion she was looking for something light and simple.  she loved the idea of incorporating pastel colors of yellows and purples and decided that a third color would really bring it all together!

this design was so fun to create...i love working with pastels if you couldn't tell :) and the pictures she sent me to work with...adorable! go check out her full new look here

good morning sunshine!  i am waking up this morning wanting cupcakes (my favorite thing ever!) and after this post i think you will too.

the lovely michelle of living a life of love came to me not too long ago in search for some design work.  when she told me the design was for her cupcake business i knew that this little project was going to be so much fun.  after exchanging a few emails this was the design that was created.  luckily this girl was in love...and i must say i am too...i heart fun and playful designs!

today is the big day for michelle! her dream of running and operating a cupcake business has officially started today.  go check out michabella's cupcakery and wish her luck!  i wish i lived in florida so i could go snatch up one of her cupcakes.

on a slight side note...this post reminded me of a few pictures i took during my recent visit to anthropologie.  i was in need for some inspiration for my window displays and we all know how fabulous the design teams of anthropologie are!

taking flight - a new illustration/watercolor

good morning lovelies!  i thought i would share with you my latest creation.  i call it taking flight.

i had class last night and the assignment was to create and draw an illustration and then use watercolors to add some dimension.  i have never used watercolors before but i can say i absolutely loved it.  have any of you worked with this medium?  i'd love to see your work!

i loved this project so much, i think i will be investing in the materials so i can do more with it at home - you know with all the free time i have ;)

a happy nest - a blog design makeover

i have a new design to reveal. the lovely trina of feed the birdies contacted me not too long about a new design she was looking for on her blog. this is what we came up with :) isn't it so fun and cheerful!
