soda pop taste testing & a diamond in the rough

my mister has been super busy taste testing some soda's that we plan to offer out of miss scarlet (haven't read about our scarlet & cream dream?  click here!).  i am not a fan of carbonation, so i have to leave the job to him :)  when you throw in some ice cream...then i'm a fan!

we have been super busy these last few weeks getting everything organized for our upcoming spring opening - i know it's several months away, but once the holidays come and go it will be here in no time!  matthew had all of last week off so we stopped at a few places - the health department, to find out about all the necessary permits and code requirements we have to meet, the city clerk, the graphic wraps business in town and a sound system audio place as well.  on top of that we made several phone calls, looked around on the internet for some ideas, etc. etc.  really the list is never ending so how about i stop now before i bore you to death :)

BUT before i stop too soon...i have to introduce you to miss scarlet!!!  last time i shared our dream job with you, we didn't even have our camper picked out yet.  drum roll please...

she needs some love, but the fine folks of fine design campers in kentucky are looking forward to the challenge.  they are a group of volunteers that specialize in refurbishing vintage trailers!  soon she will have a shiny new paint job, some wings and a fabulous new interior.

i can't wait to share her progress with you...i can hardly wait for opening day :) XO, lindsay

P.S.  Do  you have a favorite bottled soda?  please do share!!  also...we love new ideas and would love to hear your thoughts on what types of snacks/foods we should offer out of this pretty girl!!

  5. You guys are so daring, I'm really jealous! My sons, who live in Newport Beach were looking into something similar out here. I think they wanted to call it The Gringo Burrito...or something. There are little clatches of gourmet traveling food trailers in Orange County. Good luck to you both.

  11. How exciting that this is becoming a reality!

I like pretty much all sodas, except for the fruit-based ones (e.g. Fanta) and maybe Mountain Dew. Root beer, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Diets Pepsi and Coke, and Vanilla Coke are my absolute faves!

  18. Fun fact about me: I am a huge fan of carbonation, but not really of super sugary drinks. You can find me drinking a freakin' club soda more often than a cola.

Okay maybe that was a boring fact.

  19. You should totally do cake-pops... You know where to find a book of all sorts of designs! Oh, and cupcakes! You know who makes a yummy red velvet cupcake with orange-cream cheese frosting... :)

So excited for you and Matt. Can't wait!!!

  21. Congrats on getting the camper! That's so exciting :) I can't wait to see it after it get's a spruced up.

There's a soda company out of Seattle called DRY soda, that has really great soda that's dry (of course...) & not very sweet so it pairs really well with sweet treats. There's fun flavors too like lavender and rhubarb and lemongrass! Hope that's helpful :) I'm excited to hear more as you guys get closer to opening!
