♥ 150 lbs of puppy love ♥

(i apologize for the random bloglovin link above...apparently i have to do this at least once to claim this blog as my own?)

i remember the day like it was just yesterday....my mom called me while looking at the sunday paper saying that great dane puppies were available in a town close to lincoln.  matthew and i had been searching forever for great danes puppies close by.  i called the breeder right away and matthew and i were at their doorstep later that afternoon.


we were greeted by the daddy (the one about to kiss my nose) weighing in at 190 lbs and still growing and the mommy 160 lbs...then we saw them....all 10 of them!!


here are just a few of the pups in the litter we were able to catch all at once!  aren't they adorable :)  matthew and i had no idea how we were going to decide.  we knew we wanted a girl so that eliminated 6...then this little one caught our eye...


we named her brixa and the rest is history!  in the picture above she was only 5 weeks old...so we had to wait a whole 3 weeks before we got to take her home for good.  lucky for us the breeders were cool and let us visit on the weekends.  here is just a little more cuteness that we captured of our little girl when she was just a tiny pup (but oh my goodness we knew she was going to be huge...look at those paws).  get ready for picture overload.

    wow! brixa is really big and pretty!!!! it seems like many bloggers are posting pics of their cute pups today. did i not get the memo? lol. i have an american bulldog and he's so chubby and cuddly. he's only a year old. :)

    I love big dogs! They have such a sweet temperament. We had one of the most sweetest rotweilers.He had such a huge place in my heart. They're just like gentle giants, truly. Every great dane I've ever met are such loyal sweeties.

    Oh my gosh look how she grew! So cute! My aunt was just talking today about her favorite dog she had when she was little, and she was a great dane. They must be awesome dogs!

    She is so so cute! I love big dogs so much! I can usually never get close to little dogs as easily. We have 3 dogs-a german shepherd, a labrador mix, and an american eskimo dog. We also have 3 dogs, 2 hamsters, 2 lizards, and 2 frogs! :)

    She's absolutely gorgeous! And ummm big :) I love the big ones though, I've always wanted a St. Bernard but hubs is adamant about the "no drool" rule. He's no fun. Of course the felines in the house probably wouldn't be too happy with a dog either, they're still being pissy with each other! Thanks so much for sharing her, I have NO clue how you picked just one from that litter!

    Wow...that is a lot of puppy-poundage! Brixa is beautiful (do all great danes have blue eyes? GORGEOUS!); it's amazing to see how much she has changed. And how lucky is she, getting to lounge all over your furniture like she does? ;) Where does she sleep?

    I so want a dog. Like, yesterday, but The Hubs and I can't agree on the size! Plus, he wants an outdoor dog. That's right..."outdoor". Out here, the dirt is "red" and it stains, so almost everyone we know keeps their dogs outside. I will be the first to break that rule. hehehe...

    What a beautiful dog. I was just talking yesterday with a friend about pets and how it is so amazing that we can become so close to an animal and love them so much. I have a cat, but would love a dog some day.

    Oh, my goodness...the cuteness overload...oh, my goodness...I want to come snuggle her! She's adorable! And what a big girl...we had a boxer that was 80 pounds and she was the biggest sweetie. Oh, I miss her. We adopted her at 8 and she got cancer and we only got to have her in our world for a year... But what a wonderful year it was. :)

    Jeez you have so many pets! That's awesome. I almost got a crocodile once, I'm not even kidding haha. Dogs are the best though. I have a jack russell and he always makes me die of laughter because of the things he does. Sometimes I think he's a human trapped in a dog's body.

    Damn it - I didn't message you either (same problem with Aubrie - I'm such a dope!) Well anyway, I sent you the award for being super stylish. Because you are, quite simply. Sorry my inept attempts at presenting it to you failed dismally! BTW those dogs are beautiful - my hubs and I love dogs but we always seem to live somewhere that doesn't allow pets. Now we've moved to Dubai and fear getting a dog and deciding we want to move back to U.K. So we'll wait till we're settled and see.

    I was referred by someone who found my blog yesterday, telling me that you had a dane! She is BEAUTIFUL! My husband and I have a dane as well! His name is Titan! Seeing her puppy pictures totally takes me back! One day we would like to have two, but that would mean a bigger house haha. Your blog is fabulous so I'm following :)
