small city charm

matthew and i were walking around what is called the haymarket in downtown lincoln nebraska last night.  it is very small...much different from the  blocks of skyscrapers i am used to in chicago.  but i love it!  the brick buildings, old light pillars, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, and brick roads.  it is so charming.

do any of you have an area like this in your town?  please do share :) XO, lindsay

  4. I definitely love the small town feel, but I do miss the hustle and bustle of a bigger city. I live in a small town like this.

    Love your pictures, beautiful!

  5. wow, that is charming! i can't think of any place like that in my city of los angeles, although i'm still fairly new to this area so maybe i just haven't found it yet. the central coast of california, however, is lined with adorable little beach towns. they definitely have this sort of charm. and i used to live in bangor, maine, which was overflowing with charm! hmm... i think it's time for a quiet escape from the city...

  7. Love this! There's an area near me called Historic Ellicott City and it's a narrow street full of old buildings, antique stores, lots of quirky personality... and my favorite coffee shop in the world! My fiance and I went on a cross country road trip a few years ago and these were our favorite sorts of places... We'll have to hit up Haymarket on our next trip!

  9. Love these photos...my husband was looking at this post with me and said that he has eaten at the resturant in the last photo...he had done some homeland security work in Omaha and spent some time there! I've never been to Nebraska...I am wanting to take the kids there this summer for a weekend so we can visit the zoo! Thank you again for my beautiful blog design...i love it so!

  10. Our whole town is kind of like this. Some days I want a big city feel but others I'm just in love with a small town atmosphere. I like knowing so many people around town.

  11. I grew up in two different parts of New York State and this reminds me of Glens Falls, NY. Now we're in Portland, Maine and there is a section of the city (which is small) called Old Port, complete with cobble stone streets and lots of fisherman. When the snow starts melting, I hope to get some photos to share.
