a surprise visit

hello!!  long time no see :) i have been mia these last few days for a very good reason!  the other day i surprised my mom with a visit.  we hadn't seen each other since may and i thought flying to visit her, my step dad and the smokey mountains was a great idea!  this surprise was 2 months in the making and i am happy to report that she had absolutely no clue....a few tears were shed, hugs exchanged and lots of happiness was in the room :)

our days have been filled with excitement...my favorite so far was driving through the mountains to look at the changing leaves while listening to frank sinatra...it doesn't get much better than that!

i am homeward bound tomorrow and have many more pictures to share - tonight we are going trick or treating with my niece and nephew...i can't wait :)  what are you up to this halloween?!?

  1. Beautiful photo!! Mother nature decided to play a Halloween Trick on New Englander and dumped a half foot of snow on us yesterday. Wide spread power outages and bitter cold temperatures definitely put a damper on Halloween this year!! Booo!

  3. With me you probably get a different perspective than most of your readers...just a "tad" older ... but as a mom things like surprise visits and little things that take time and thought mean sooo much. My son Bryn walked into my house late one Friday night just to spend Mother's Day weekend with me. It was so special. What I love to get from my kids, if I had one gift request, is time....just hang-out time...

  4. What a wonderful surprise! Several of my relatives who live out of state have surprise visited us during a couple family get togethers. One was when my dad's sister and her family who live on the other coast surprised us on Christmas Day. Best Christmas present ever! :)

Enjoy your last few hours with your family.
