Hi there! I’m Candice from Teatime Thoughts. I just wanted to say thank you to my lovely friend Lindsay here at Scenic Glory for including me in the awesome In Her Shoes Feature! I’m a huge fan of her adorable blog, and I know you all are too! Ok, well, when I was sent the questions for this, it actually took me awhile to figure out how I was going to answer...my schedule has recently changed, and so things are a bit different than if I’d been asked about 2 months ago. Anyways, I’m delighted that you’re reading this, and hopefully you’ll enjoy this peek into a day of my life!
What motivates you to get your day started?
Well, I am not a huge fan of sleeping in..I just feel like it is such a waste of the day to be sleeping when I could be out and about accomplishing something fun, so I typically feel motivated to get out of bed for that reason. Besides, life is meant to be lived and not just slept away!
What part of the day do you look forward to and why?
I’m doing a bunch of classes online right now, so after all of my work for those is done for the day, I love to stop by my favorite cafe or gourmet market and pick up some lunch or a French sparkling pink lemonade (my favorite!!) If I have time, then I browse some thrift stores and perhaps meet a friend for a cup of tea. I love the balance of accomplishing and then relaxing.
What do you like most about where you live?
I truly enjoy my city’s love for the arts; I am lucky to live in a place where art, theatre, dance and creativity are welcomed with open arms (and deep pockets it seems). There are so many charming places around my city to experience and enjoy, from the quaint gourmet restaurants to the botanical gardens and sparkling bayfront. It’s all lovely!
What part of your day is the most difficult and what do you do to overcome that?
Truthfully, the time when I have about an hour before I have to go to ballet, or I know I should go for a run; I know I’ll enjoy myself when I get there, but sometimes I’m not in the mood to stop what I’m doing and go work for awhile in the studio. Anyone else feel like this when you know you should really go to the gym? I tend to combat this attitude, called laziness, really, by thinking about how much fun it is to dance, and how great I’ll feel after working hard. (Gotta love those endorphins!) What it really boils down to is self-motivation and attitude; you can and need to push yourself!
What do you love most about yourself today?
I really had to think about this question before giving an answer..as I’m typing this, I’m sitting on an evening flight to visit some friends of mine, so I’m thinking through the events of the day to find an admirable quality..oh, well I’d have to say that I love my creativity. I’ve always had a love for all things beautifully and creatively expressed; spending time painting, drawing, writing and dancing are some of the ways that I enjoy speaking creatively. I’ve recently found a love for thrifting which certainly brings out the artist in everyone. Seeing the rows of vintage dresses of various sizes and making them chic, or finding the perfect scraps and turning them into a fun craft project is another way I enjoy using that part of my mind!
It’s been such a pleasure to share this window into my life with you all! I hope you all enjoyed it, and please, stop by my blog and say hello sometime! You’re always welcome :)
Much love,
Candice
