okay...so i didn't leave my whole heart in chicago :) but a big piece will always remain in this charming city. a huge part of my life was spent living here and often times i wonder to myself if i will ever have the opportunity to return again. the saying "you don't know what you have until it's gone" is so very true...don't get me wrong, i adore this lovely little town of lincoln that matthew and i call home, but nothing quite compares to the hustle and bustle of chicago.
i think i miss the city lights and skyline the most. it is truly a magical place. when you're in the middle of it all it feels like a dream. walking through the streets and looking up at these massive structures is such a surreal experience.
the city streets are unlike anything i have ever experienced before...taxi cabs, "L" trains, and buses oh my! i recently had the opportunity to visit chicago with matthew and some friends and i almost forgot what this was like. i have not had to sit in traffic for almost 8 years! honking horns every second, bicycle riders everywhere in site, tourists figuring out which museum to go to next...the list is never ending. to many it's a crazy and overwhelming place, but to me it will forever and always be my home.
i have had the amazing opportunity to live in several different places, and each and every one of them has a piece of my heart...chicago just has the biggest :)
what cities have pieces of your heart?
have a lovely day - lindsay
looks like a great time and a great place to go! Eat anywhere good ?
ReplyDeleteAW well Chicago has most of my heart because that's where Mr. Charming is :) When I visited him awhile ago, we went to Chicago and it's amazing!! I loved it. I wish we could have walked around at night because it looks beautiful. I think we'll have to go back someday!
ReplyDeleteChicago is my favorite city EVER. I grown up saying that I would always live in NYC, but then I went there and was slightly disappointed. Shortly after I went to Chicago and fell in love. Every time I go back I fall more and more in love with the place. I would do anything to live there.
ReplyDeletechicago has always been a fave of mine as well! the art institute...LOVE.
ReplyDeletei never pictured myself as a big city kind of girl, and now here i am in NYC!

ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I miss Arizona. It's probably not the same awesomeness as Chicago but it sure beats the LITTLE TOWN USA I live in now. I visited once, Chicago that is, it was Thanksgiving day- everything was closed.
ReplyDeletethis makes me want to go to chicago!! one of my best friends in high school moved there to live with her mom for a year and i always loved hearing about the city.

ReplyDeleteChicago is an amazing city! I visited when I was younger, and I really would love to visit again. I think I would appreciate it more now and be able to explore so much more of it! Amsterdam is a city that will forever have my heart. Even though we lived there for only 2 years, there was just something about it that I loved.

Hi Lindsay, what a lovely blog you've got! I've never been to Chicago but it looks so so great. I've been to my fair share of places and I think my favourite city would be Montreal ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I didn't get any email from you! Did you send it to lulapalooza27@yahoo.com? If it's no trouble, send it back I'm curious!
Have a great evening!
Big kiss
PS: following you right away.
My hubby just visited Chicago and loved it. I have yet to go but he says he would love to go back and take me. We went to NYC in September- a great experience for me. He says Chicago is just as great, if not better!
ReplyDeleteawe, sorry you're feeling heart sick for chic-ago. i totally understand and feel the same way about Toronto, a place i lived in for a while. remember though, you bloom where your planted and it seems to me your pretty petals are flourishing right now. ♥
ReplyDeleteI'd pick San Fran cuz that's where I first dated my husband. We had a lot of fun being single there.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever been to Chicago. Well I take that back, I think we drove through when I was like 10 but I can't remember it at all. I do love the hustle and bustle of big cities though. San Fran has my heart. I know that might be cliche but its where my hub proposed. Its just magical.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You are like my most faithful blog reader/commenter. I really appreciate it! It reminds me that someone is out there.
Atheeeeeeeeeeens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!mmmmmmmmmm... I Loooove living here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletepart of my heart lives in NYC - and its not because a loved one lives there or I'm from there.
ReplyDeleteI vistited for a week about 5 years ago and it was the most amazing experience ever. I tell the Mister that if we knew we could survive, find jobs, live comfortably, everything, I would pick up and move there tomorrow. Something about NYC is so me and seeing pictures and movies with parts of NYC in them, just pull at the heart strings a little more.
Cheers!
